• August 8th – By Mike Burkett (NOFX)

Birds sing there’s not a cloud in the sky, yeah August 8th is a beautiful day,
I see a bunch of hippies crying yeah August 8th is a beautiful day,
Like waking up from a real bad dream, suddenly everything is ok.
The storm has passed and the sun is shining yeah August 8th is a beautiful day.
What’s goin’ on, what’s goin on, is something bummin your scene?
There’s something wrong, there’s something wrong, I’m not trying to be mean.
The air is sweet the summer flowers bloomin nowhere in sight is there anything grey,
Feelings of joy are filling the street, yeah August 8th is a beautiful day.
Like waking up from a fucked up dream, suddenly everything’s looking good.
There’s been no permanent damage done, Yeah August 8th came right when it should.
    Poor Jeff,
    Poor little Timmy Turtle,
Staying home on such a beautiful day.

  • Kickass week/end with friends

Were do I begin?? Had a awesome week/weekend with my girl and great friends. Every year about this time my friend Scott travels through Canada and spends a week in Regina. This week usually includes heavy drinking among other things. This year he motorcycled the whole distance from Washington to Saskatchewan in 3 days while making stops in BC and Alberta. First few days mostly were about Nat and I working while Scott got some much needed R+R. We spent the evenings BBQing and drinking brews chilling at home and playing some videogames. Thursday after work we saddled up and trekked to Saskatoon on our motorcycles. Was an awesome trip but I’m sure Scott has something to say about the insect situation in this Provence. Once we got there we stopped at Fudruckers for a beer and a burger as well as meetup with our good buddy Mike and his girl. Afterwards we went back to Mikes place and dropped our bikes and gear off and then went on a quest for more drinks in downtown Saskatoon. We had a few, seen some of Saskatoons fine women and decided to pickup some drinks and head back to the house. While we were at the offsale we heard some reggae dubstep craziness next door and decided to make one last stop. 30 minutes later we continued our journey home as the bar definitely sounded more full outside than it actually was. Back at mikes we partied and took turns picking out music/music videos and catching up on goodtimes (and drank too much). Next day was a slow one, we left at 2 or 3pm and did some quick shopping at some bike shops then started our trip back to Regina. Over the weekend we did a few nights out on Regina with Natasha and friends. The last couple days were mostly spent drinking/BBQ at our place and relaxing. Natasha and I both needed to go back to work and Scott caught up on some needed rest for his travels back. Was a good weekend and enjoyed being with friends. Thanks Scott for making the huge trip to Canada once again, hope we were good hosts and that you have. Safe trip home.

  • BP Oil Leak Stopped

BP says oil no longer flowing into the Ocean. I spent 30 min watching the live feed of the unit with the robotic arms floating around doing work on the operation but i can definitely vouch that it seems to be working?

Little too late? I would say so.. We have just witnessed the largest man made disaster of mankind. Hopefully this pipe stays capped.

How long until conspirators start saying this is a hoax like the moon landing… lawl.

  • Garden Sound.. not Soundgarden.

  • BP Coffee Spill

  • Why is there fighting in hockey?

This is something that I never really understood. Is it to make the sport appeal to more boneheads and idiots? Is it to make the team feel like they are there for each other? Is there strats as to who fights and to take out (star) players of the other team? Some teams have players that basically suck shit at the sport and are there mainly to fight… this is retarded. There is no fighting in football and that is probably a blessing because I’m sure that would open a whole new realm of racial media bullshit and IMO the race card is already getting played far too much to enable people to get their way in life. No fighting in soccer however there is still some violence from time to time.. they are just sneaky about it and when someone gets hit they usually roll around on the ground like a 8yr old with a broken fingernail until the referees call the penalty or whatever.. then miraculously the player is up and bouncing around with energy like nothing happened.. ooookkkk…

So I guess all sports have violence and hate in them and accidents happen but all other sports, the players have the brainpower to keep the game civil for the most part.. So why does hockey need to be this behavior enabled in hockey? After a wiki search on the net I found info about how the fans want to see it left in the sport.. so that goes back to my first statement or appeal to boneheads and idiots. IMO if you want to see some fighting… why don’t you go to a fight? Boxing, UFC, MMA etc are FAR more intimate and provide different rules etc but actually display some fighting ability/techniques and are far more impressive than a bunch of goons punching each other in the pads and helmets..

Ya.. I’m not really all that impressed when someone drops their hockey gloves and then starts punching a guy with his bare fists straight into their helmet while holding them by their jersey and equipment and then falls over because he is all clumsy on his skates. Followed by a penalty or a game misconduct that actually cripples the team.. I don’t know, maybe Fighting is good for the sport and I would suspect many fans would chime in on this topic as to why it is good for the sport but the fact remains that other sports are fine without it and focus more on the skill involved in the sport than rely on such retarded tactics to gain an advantage in the game.

  • This may be the best G4 X-Play game review EVER.

So I was unpacking some boxes from when my fiance and I moved into our new house and found my Microsoft ForceFeedback Joystick and decided to do a quick wiki search for supported games incase I find something of interest. So the search began and I managed to find a list of supported forcefeedback games. Right now I am on some strange space game kick, so ofcourse I had to apply this to my search and tripped over X2 and X3. While older games, the screenshots and such looked somewhat impressive and better yet.. available for download via Steam. you can get both X2 and X3 as a package for $10! I had to know more… where else to turn than trusty old youtube. I am a G4 fan and X-Play has some of the better video reviews.. so I naturally chose the X-Play review for X3.. and low and behold I laughed my ass off with the sheer awesomeness of Morgan Webb.

  • Dont Own Portal? Get it FREE now!

Only untill May 24th 2010, you can now get your own free copy of the award winning Portal via Steam game distribution software. Steam is by far my favorite thing that has happened to PC gaming in the last few years.. it had a very rough start imo. I remember when it just came out and how it was only 5% functional and my CS clan and I hated every aspect of it. Now it has become the best way to get games on your PC…

    AND NOW MAC!

Thats right, Steam is now available for MacOS! As a celebration, they are offering Portal for free for a limited time only. So get it while you can!  http://store.steampowered.com/freeportal/

OK, now the real wait begins…   I really need a Linux Client!

Concidering MacOS is for the most part UNIX, the port over to Linux should be a much easier step for the developers. Since Mac has had a huge impact on the market, it was only a matter of time before we would start seeing it as a viable gaming platform. If all my games ran on a Mac, would I still buy a Mac? Thats a good question… I dont know. I am still a fan of bleedig edge games and cannot see them running their full potential on a Mac or Linux in the near future. No matter what way you look at things.. right now they are still ports and will be running on OpenGL. Some systems may find games operating better like this… but without DirectX.. dont expect to be playing any games that have been released with any form of stunning visuals or high end effects only found in the last few revisions of DirectX.

So At this point, I am still a PC. My reason is because I’m a PC gamer and thats where it is at in the computer world and will be for a while to come. When I am not operating on Windows, I am most likely in a Linux environment (FreeBSD, Debian, Gentoo are my distros of choice). I find it very hard to spend the extra 1/3 in price for the same hardware but with the sleek Mac design and an operating system that I do not have a use for at this point.

  • Ok I admit, I was on a mission to pickup a prostitute..
